Meal planning is by far the number one way to save money on groceries. Surely you’ve heard that before… You plan for what you eat and buy what you NEED based on the plan. In turn, you waste less food (and less money). Meal planning also makes it easier to avoid takeout. Blah blah blah.
You’ve heard it all – but meal planning can still feel overwhelming. Especially meal planning for beginners!
No fear! I love meal planning.
Okay… not really.
I’d actually rather order farm to table takeout whenever I want and have a personal chef.
But since I’m a homeschooling mom with 4 kids, I’ll have to just throw dinner in the crockpot like the rest of the world. Plus, at one time, we had 6 figures of student loan debt to pay off on 1 income, so I learned to meal plan & grocery shop like a frugal boss!
I now spend less than an hour a week on meal planning and grocery shopping combined.
I’ve been working on creating a series of posts for meal planning newbies to help you learn how to…
- Know which stores to shop at that give you the best bang for your buck in terms of time + money
- Make a healthy dinner really fast
- Get kids helping in the kitchen
- Spend less than an hour a week on meal planning and grocery shopping
- Keep track of recipes you like
- What the heck to do about breakfast and lunch for little kids
- Use grocery pickup and delivery services.
Listen, I want to help you! I want to make your life easier…
So, let’s start with some of my favorite printable meal planning calendars. They’re all monthly meal plan calendars because I menu plan by the month.
I use the same breakfast and lunch options every week, so I don’t meal plan for those really. I just use this calendar to plan for healthy home cooked dinners; based on our family’s schedule.
